How do the five biggest ranked ladders compare?

All five games sort players into named tiers, but each one handles the climb differently. Here is how the ladders look in October 2026, including Emerald, the new Overwatch tier between Platinum and Diamond.

Game Tiers (lowest to highest) Top rank How ranks are earned
Valorant Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal, Radiant Radiant: regional RR threshold plus top 500 spot Rank Rating (RR); 100 RR promotes, Iron to Ascendant
Counter-Strike 2 (Premier) Gray, Light Blue, Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Yellow Yellow, from 30,000 CS Rating; no hard ceiling Numeric CS Rating, shown after ten Premier wins
League of Legends Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, Challenger Challenger League Points (LP) from ranked wins; Apex resets start at Master 0LP
Overwatch 2 Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster, Champion Champion, with a regional Top 500 leaderboard above it Rank updates after every match; 10 placements per role in reset seasons
Marvel Rivals Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, One Above All One Above All: top 500 players by points 100-point divisions, Bronze through Celestial; Eternity is points-based

Bottom line: Valorant, Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals put a top-500 leaderboard above their final tier, while CS2 Premier drops badges for a single number with no ceiling.

Ranked climbing habits that actually win games

Climbing depends more on consistent habits than raw mechanics. These six apply across most competitive games, from MOBAs to tactical shooters.

  1. Shrink your champion or agent pool: Commit to two or three picks in one main role. Familiar matchups and power spikes free your attention for map and team decisions.
  2. Warm up before you queue: Spend a short block in an aim trainer, practice range or unranked match first. Your first ranked game should not double as your warm-up.
  3. Set a hard stop rule: End the session after two straight losses or the moment you feel tilted. Queueing angry turns one bad game into a losing streak.
  4. Mute fast, communicate briefly: Mute anyone flaming so your focus stays on the game. Use pings and short, factual callouts, and never type blame mid-match.
  5. Review one loss per session: Rewatch a replay and find a single mistake you controlled, such as a bad death, late rotation or wasted cooldown. Fix that one habit before chasing others.
  6. Judge sessions by execution: Score yourself on whether you applied your focus point, not on points gained or lost. Rank follows real improvement, often after a delay.

Esports and Ranked Terms Every Player Should Know

These twelve terms come up constantly in competitive matches, pro broadcasts and patch discussions, so knowing them makes both playing and watching easier.

12 terms
Eco round
A round in economy-based shooters like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant where a team buys little or nothing to save credits for a full buy later.
IGL
The in-game leader, the player who makes the team's strategic calls during a match, such as where to attack, when to rotate and how to spend money.
Macro
Big-picture decision-making, including map control, objective timing, rotations and resource management.
Meta
The strategies, characters, weapons or builds the community considers most effective at a given time, usually shaped by balance changes.
Micro
Individual mechanical skill, such as aim, movement, ability timing and precise character control in fights.
MMR
Matchmaking rating, a hidden skill number the game uses to pair you against similarly skilled opponents, separate from the rank badge you see.
Patch
A game update that fixes bugs, adjusts balance or adds content, often shifting the meta.
Peeker's advantage
The edge an aggressive player gets when swinging around a corner, because network latency lets them see the defender a split second before the defender sees them.
Smurf
An experienced player using a new or low-ranked account to face weaker opponents, a practice many developers try to detect and penalize.
Tier list
A ranking that sorts characters, weapons or items from strongest to weakest, often labeled S through D, based on the current meta.
Trade
Killing the opponent who just eliminated your teammate, so the exchange stays even.
Utility
Non-damage tools like smokes, flashes and abilities used to block vision, gather information or control space.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Player

What are the Valorant ranks in order?

  2. Shotcall GG

The nine ranks are Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal, Radiant. Every rank except Radiant has three tiers, which gives 25 distinct ranks total. The highest rank you can place after placements in Valorant is Ascendant 3.

  3. Player

What is a good CS Rating in CS2 Premier?

  4. Shotcall GG

Anything above the middle of the ladder is better than most players. In September 2026 tracker data, the middle Premier player sits at about 11,300 CS Rating, 15,000 is the top 30% and 20,000 is the top 10.3%. These numbers come from third-party trackers, not Valve, and they move as each season goes on.

  5. Player

How do I convert my Valorant sensitivity to CS2?

  6. Shotcall GG

Multiply your Valorant sensitivity by roughly 3.18 while keeping the same mouse DPI. For example, a 0.4 Valorant sens becomes about 1.27 in CS2 at the same DPI. Scoped sensitivity is a separate setting, so convert your AWP or Operator values on their own.

  7. Player

What is eDPI and why does it matter?

  8. Shotcall GG

eDPI is your effective DPI, calculated as mouse DPI multiplied by in-game sensitivity. It gives you one number to compare against other players, no matter what DPI each person uses. Only compare eDPI within the same game, because Valorant and CS2 scale sensitivity differently.

  9. Player

How do I copy a pro player's crosshair?

  10. Shotcall GG

Valorant and CS2 both let you import a crosshair from a share code in the crosshair settings menu. Paste in the code, then try it in a practice range before you use it in ranked. Change the colour and thickness to suit your monitor and the maps you play.

  11. Player

Who won Valorant Champions 2026, and when is the next CS2 Major?

  12. Shotcall GG

LOUD from the Americas defeated Team Vitality from EMEA with a 3–1 scoreline to win its second Champions title in Shanghai. For CS2, PGL has announced the Singapore Major, with 32 of the world's best teams and a $1,250,000 prize pool. PGL's announcement gives the dates as November 25 and December 13, 2026, but the event page says November 24, so check the official schedule closer to the start.
